Vivaldi, designed in 1966 by Friedrich Peter for VGC, never looked as charming as in this hand-rendered fading sign for a hairdressing salon in Berlin-Malchow. For both the typeface and the shop the best days are long gone.

Most digital versions of Vivaldi feature a different default shape for 'H' and 'g' (left). Letraset and ITC both include a number of alternates. ITC's Vivaldi Std is the only version where the alternates (right) can be toggled via an OpenType feature.
