| Description： | Rameau is an original typeface developed by Sarah Lazarevic. She began by designing the italic, which is based on handwriting used for the musical score to "Les fêtes de l'hymen et de l'amour," an opera published by J-P Rameau in 1747. In the 18th century, sheet music was printed by a copperplate engraving process; writing was engraved manually, as opposed to being printed with movable metal type.The Rameau typeface is therefore enriched with numerous ligatures in its cursive italic, in order to make it particularly representative of engraving styles from that time. It is also reminiscent of the harmonious rhythms of an authentic handwriting. The roman offers a a refined and subtle combination of thin and broad strokes, as well as original and very distinctive serifs on the capital letters. This legible and elegant typeface is particularly recommended for luxury books. It also can be used for various sorts of layouts, such as invitations, announcements, menus, etc., and of course for musical editions or publications related to the 18th century. |
