"The original swash italic capitals designed for the foundry Palatino are not available digitally", states John Butler in his Palatino FAQ from 1998. Sadly enough, neither the release of Palatino Linotype (c. 1999) nor of Palatino Nova (2005) — "a return to the original Palatino idea, and an extension of that idea to the future" [Linotype] — changed that.
