How is a typeface designed? What characters are required in a font? What is the difference between roman, oblique and cursive types? Cómo crear tipografías ("How to create typefaces") is a guide that addresses these questions and many more in a clear and straightforward manner. Edited by Spanish publishing house Tipo e, the book is aimed both at beginners and designers with some experience in the field.

The authors of Cómo crear tipografías are type designers, graphic designers and teachers, with vast experience in their respective activities. Coming from very different backgrounds, each one represents a different way of learning and making type. Laura Meseguer (Spain) studied at KABK in Netherlands, José Scaglione (Argentina) at the University of Reading in UK, and Cristoóbal Henestrosa (Mexico) at Gestalt in Veracruz, Mexico.

TypeTogether'sKarminais used throughout the book, in headings, texts, captions and footnotes. The cover was designed by Laura Meseguer, using the Extrabold weight of her yet exclusiveMulti.

"How to create typefaces" is available in Spanish and Polish for the time being. See Sébastien Morlighem's review On being well read, published in Eye Magazine 84, 2012.
