This Czech avant-garde book cover featuresMaximilian Antiqua, a set of open Roman caps that accompanied Rudolf Koch's Maximilian. It was released in 1917 by Gebr. Klingspor.

There are various digitizations of this display typeface, including versions by Keystrokes a.k.a. Fonts For Design (adding a solid cut), Dieter Steffmann (with ahistoric small caps) and CastleType (as Maximillian [sic]). Ambrose is a reworked Maximilian Antiqua by Alan Meeks for Letraset. None of these fonts feature the diamond-shaped dots that can be seen here.

The grotesque looks like a wide version of Venus, with its high-waisted 'P' and 'R'.
