The German edition of the Autobiography of Mark Twain. The Complete and Authoritative Edition, Volume 1 was recently published by Aufbau. It comprises two volumes in a slipcase, with the second tome holding background information and appendices. Hans-Christian Oeser and Andreas Mahler provided the translation.*

As one would expect for the story of "the father of American literature" (W. Faulkner), the two typefaces used for the exterior both come from American foundries – Acropolis by Hoefler & Frere-Jones, and Agenda by Font Bureau. The interior is set in Adobe Garamond. Interestingly, the cover of the Akzidenz-Grotesk.
